SNG epiphany this morning. Got HU with solid German 5:1 CL. Sizing when the blinds get big has been a gray area for me. (I usually try to see how small my raise can be and still get a fold, then standardize to that.) Two things occured to me:
1. they're calling/pushing/folding based on their hand as well as my bet size, so it's better to think about what % of their hands they're folding to various sized bets (i.e. your minbet will fold out 8-3, but not K9, so you need to raise more when you want them to fold more) (not that you can telegraph your hands, you still need to "randomize")
2. position is everything. adjust your bet sizing to get the result you want (based on reads). You want to play more flops in position, and win more pots preflop OOP. So you'll do a lot of small raising from the button, and a lot of repopping from the BB. You hardly ever want to smoothcall from the BB, although checking behind a limp is ok. (better to repop if you can pot commit pre, unless there's a good chance OPP will trap)
